Limited Edition Print - Moataz Nasr, TBT, 2015
Moataz Nasr is a self-taught Egyptian artist who moved from economics to art in Old Cairo, winning the Grand Prix at the Cairo Biennial in 2001. His work has since shown at the Venice, Seoul, São Paulo, and Bogotá biennials, exploring the complexities of pan-Arab contemporary culture and the anxieties of the African continent.
At Villa Lena, Nasr was struck by the colours of the estate — ochres and warm stone that reminded him of sun-dried Egyptian architecture. The print draws you in through perspective and depth, then stops you with a single red brushstroke across the surface.
All proceeds support the Villa Lena Foundation.
