With a foundation rooted in their shared passion for music and DJing, the duo embarked on their creative journey after crossing paths at Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design. In this unique work, Butternutten AG engaged in a collaborative practice to work on this etching as a duo. Through this partnership, they engage intimately with the artistic medium, striving to exploit and expose the symbiotic relationship between money and art, as well as their subservience to society. Their crafted "money essence oil," serves as a lubricant produced from the tactile traces left behind by handling currency notes. These notes, symbolic of financial exchange, are emblematic of the duo's approach to scrutinizing the constructed nature of monetary value. By integrating this tactile element, the artwork visually amplifies Butternutten AG's perspective on the intricate interplay between the conceptual worth of money and its broader sociocultural implications.
