Limited Edition Print - Christopher Green, Untitled (Palaia Italia), 2014
Christopher Green, a London-based UK artist, masterfully blends abstraction and figuration in his captivating paintings. Through the process of adding, erasing, and collaging various elements, Green creates dynamic compositions. His series of small abstract boards, reminiscent of a music album, showcase hits and integral pieces that form the foundation of his artistic expression. With a focus on revision and reinterpretation, his paintings intertwine, creating connections between past and future works. Green's impressive exhibition history includes prestigious venues such as Hannah Barry Gallery, St. Moritz Art Masters, Fokidos, and PeckhamNewYorkParis.
This print intricately weaves references to two of Green's preceding works: the 2011 piece "Untitled (Sign)" and its 2012 counterpart, simply named "Untitled." This print, meticulously crafted in a bespoke Ultramarine hue, exhibits a distinctive feature of embossed voids that paradoxically both contribute to and subtract from the overall composition. These embossed spaces act as a deliberate “block-out” that paradoxically interplays with the print's content, creating a visual dialogue of presence and absence. Through this dynamic interplay, Green's work encapsulates a thought-provoking exploration of negative space and artistic constraint, echoing the earlier works while pushing the boundaries of their concepts.
