Limited Edition Print – Bobby Dowler, Etching, 2014
Bobby Dowler is a London-based painter who works in abstraction — cutting, collaging, applying thick expressive marks, and deliberately introducing chance. His work channels the spirit of graffiti and street art, subverting the idea of controlled, planned results. He has shown at Hannah Barry Gallery, St. Moritz Art Masters, and MiddleMarch in Brussels.
"Etching" follows the same logic. Working with print for the first time, Dowler described his approach: "I felt compelled to freely draw of my own accord, filling up the space of the plate with whatever came into my mind at that moment." Part planned, part automatic writing — in the tradition of the Surrealists. The result is a landscape of the mind, shaped by his time at Villa Lena.
All proceeds support the Villa Lena Foundation.
