Limited Edition Print - Ian Hales, And Tomorrow You'll Not Even Find A Trace, 2022
Ian Hales is a Scottish artist based in London, with an MFA from the Slade School of Fine Art. His work is held by the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Graphische Sammlung ETH Zurich, and the Royal Scottish Academy.
During his 2022 residency at Villa Lena, Hales became preoccupied with light and its passage through space — a shaft of sunlight projecting through a ventilation fan, its propeller shape echoing the parasols around the pool. The resulting print, combining velvety blacks with precise mark-making, literally traces the arc of the sun across the sky. Its title is taken from a poem by Natalya Gorbanevskaya: "And tomorrow you'll not even find a trace."
All proceeds support the Villa Lena Foundation.
