Limited Edition Print – Kate Groobey La lutte, 2014
Kate Groobey, a painter and performance artist based in France and England, brings life to her figures through line drawings inspired by real-life studies, magazines, and imagination. Groobey's exhibition history includes prestigious venues like OFR Gallery and Saatchi Gallery, and she made history as the first woman to win the Daiwa Foundation Art Prize in 2018.
Her print "La Lutte" captures the unique depth of an Italian farmer against wavering Cyprus trees, achieved through meticulous layering. Groobey's figures often convey a sense of dance and exercise, with contorted bodies suggesting movement and flexibility. Printed at Il Bisonte with five copper plates, the print displays a profound complexity of tone and colour.
