Embark on a sensory journey with Da Occasione, an exquisite Tuscan red wine that echoes the vibrancy and richness of its origins. The wild nature surrounding Villa Lena is known for its position on the ley line of San Michele, the patron saint for whom the villa was originally built, which connects it to monasteries throughout Europe. Legend tells that San Michele, with unwavering bravery, slayed the dragon, symbolising the triumph of good over evil as the Devil was sent to hell. This timeless tale weaves through the fabric of our wine, adding depth to its narrative and inviting you to partake in a magical experience.
Da Occasione, a testament to elegance and depth, sets the stage for unforgettable moments on any occasion. Crafted exclusively with 100% organic Sangiovese grapes, this wine exudes refinement. Following the harvest, it spends 12 months maturing in oak barrels, acquiring distinct flavours that harmoniously blend together. Afterwards, it undergoes an additional 3 months of refinement in the bottle, culminating in a complex and refined wine. With limited production, only a few thousand bottles are created each year, making Da Occasione a true treasure.
Soil Profile
The soil that nurtures Da Occasione carries a timeless and supernatural legacy. This wine draws its complexity from the soil's rich history, formerly a seabed dating back 2-3 million years. Fossilised shells and corals intermingled with the terroirs to allow a distinctive character to the wine. Not only that but the legend of San Michele and his defeat over the dragon imparts additional magic to this soil. This unique terroir is a mesmerising blend of grey clay and sandy layers which contributes to its remarkable depth of flavours. With an acidity of 5.45 and a pH level of 3.4, this wine showcases the perfect balance of nature's elements.
