Limited Edition Print - Ian Hales, And Tomorrow You'll Not Even Find A Trace, 2022
Ian Hales, a Scottish artist based in London, gained recognition for his solo exhibitions and participation in group shows worldwide. With an MFA from the Slade School of Fine Art, Hales continues to push artistic boundaries and engage with ephemeral concepts, leaving a lasting impression in the art world. His work is collected by prestigious institutions such as the Graphische Sammlung ETH Zurich, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Royal Scottish Academy.
Hales' residency at Villa Lena in 2022 further enriched his artistic journey, capturing fleeting moments of light and shadows, and exploring the transience of time. Hales' artistic process reflects his sculptural background and attention to detail, with meticulous craftsmanship, he creates prints that emerge like sculptures, combining velvety blacks and vibrant colours. The result is an image that “literally marks out the arc of time, the movement of the sun across the sky”. As Hales himself stated: “I was drawn to the shaft of sunlight that projected through the ventilation fan in the wall of my studio, the propeller-like pattern echoing the shape of the parasols around the swimming pool, fluttering in the wind.” The print’s title, “And tomorrow you’ll not even find a trace,” is taken from a poem by Natalya Gorbanevskaya.
ALL PROCEEDS FROM PRINT SALES WILL GO TOWARDS SUPPORTING THE VILLA LENA FOUNDATION.
