Limited Edition Print – Adeline de Monseignat, Moonkissed, 2014
Adeline de Monseignat, a German-born artist, merges diverse mediums to delve into the theme of the Uncanny. With a background in Language and Culture from University College London and Fine Art from the London School of Art, she brings a multidimensional approach to her artistic exploration. Her works, spanning sculptures, installations, drawings, and videos, possess a fetishistic and surreal nature. Drawing inspiration from René Magritte's subversion of the natural, Sigmund Freud's concept of the Uncanny, and Louise Bourgeois' art, de Monseignat reinterprets these influences through her personal experiences. Her notable exhibition history includes prestigious venues such as Ronchini Gallery and Rook&Raven Gallery in London, La Rural in Buenos Aires, Honore Project in Paris, and Yorkshire Sculpture Park.
Writing on her etching “Moonkissed”, Adeline explains: “Gently sunk in their mattress and wrapped in their bed sheets, my ‘creatures’ seem gently kissed by the peeking moonlight, while a grainy greyness invades the darker corners of their ‘incubedroom.’ This is a window into their quiet intimacy.” Her drawings are a starting point for an installation, in which “Moonkissed” one day will become a 3D piece.
